Griffin Construction partnered with the Jefferson Co. Fire & EMS team, Pinnacle Architecture, and WRK Structural & Seismic Engineers/IMEG to begin pre-construction services in August of 2023. Since the drawings were already underway we began with an initial estimate which proved to be higher than anticipated. We were happy to provide our value engineering efforts to suggest a re-configuration of the addition’s layout that ultimately helped save about $590K and add an additional 400SF of space. This new direction also supported a better phasing plan for construction to remain out of the way of station operations.
The project consisted of: 8,800SF of seismic upgrades, 3,800SF of interior renovations, a 6,500SF building addition, and many exterior modifications and new work. The project was fully completed by April of 2026 and the result is a beautiful new station that not only upgraded the existing facility with new finishes, a commercial kitchen and upgraded dining hall, but added a new weight room, turnout room, training room, elevator, and 11 new bunk rooms. The county and the entire team were pleased to greatly increase the ability for the station to better serve the fire & EMS needs of the Central Oregon community.
