At Griffin Construction, we believe in building a better future for Central Oregon and beyond. By giving back through charitable donations, we invest in the communities we serve. In the spirit of the holiday season and looking forward to a new year ahead, we’re looking back at the organizations we invested in this year.
North Lake School District
Located about 75 miles south of Bend, Oregon, North Lake School District serves around 225 K-12 students from Silver Lake, Christmas Valley, and Fort Rock. The school dedicates its resources to providing the tools and education students and staff need to reach their full potential. Griffin Construction was happy to help out by donating to the North Lake Education Foundation, ensuring students and teachers have the supplies they need to succeed.
The Wildland Firefighter Foundation
Every year, wildland firefighters risk—and lose—their lives protecting homes, communities, and beloved outdoor spaces. That’s why Vicki Minor founded the Wildland Firefighter Foundation: to provide direct support to wildland firefighters and their families. We had the honor of contributing to one of their 2020 fundraisers to generate awareness and support for the people injured in wildfires.
Gilliam County Fair
The Gilliam County Fair is where wheat, wind, and waves meet at the Columbia and John Day rivers in eastern Oregon. Even though we couldn’t attend the fair this year due to COVID-19, we enjoyed donating to support the Future Farmers of America (FFA) from afar.
Crook County Schools
Home of the Cowboys and Cowgirls, Crook County High School (CCHS) strives to equip students with the tools to graduate college and enter the job force career-ready. Many high school students graduate from CCHS with college credits through AP and College Now courses. We worked with CCHS back in 2015 and were thrilled to donate to their student scholarship program this year.
Southern Wasco Library Foundation
Serving the City of Maupin, the Southern Wasco County Library opened to the public this year. The building was made possible by the support of many generous organizations and donors. It was our pleasure helping build the library to provide new books to the community.
Prineville Soroptimist Senior Center
The Prineville Senior Center serves between 70 and 120 in-house meals and 70 home-delivered meals Monday through Friday. They also provide fun activities for our local seniors, like dancing, low-impact exercise class, line dancing, corn hole games, pinochle, and bridge. As Prineville-based builders, we were honored to help the senior center continue to provide services during 2020’s many changes.
Crook County Little League
Not only is baseball America’s favorite pastime—it’s an excellent way for local youths to practice teamwork, build lasting friendships, and get involved in sports. Griffin Construction is thrilled to support the Crook County Little League team throughout the year.
Crook County Foundation
The Crook County Foundation is an incredible nonprofit organization that works hard to build positive futures for children, families, businesses, and civic groups by fostering investment in leadership, education, and the arts. Through the foundation, we’re helping support local families and children in need during the holidays.
Crook County K9 Unit
There’s a new K9 unit in town—and it’s at the Crook County Sheriff’s Office. Through the Crook County Friends of K9 program, we’re helping K9 officer Jett and Deputy Mitch Madden keep drugs off the streets and serve the community of Crook County.
The High Desert Museum
This year, we also supported the High Desert Museum—the largest cultural institute on this side of the Cascades—with a Corporate Membership. The membership is a great opportunity to give back to the museum, plus our employees and their families get to enjoy the museum at no extra cost throughout the year.
Giving back is at the core of everything we do
Reflecting on 2020, we’re grateful to do the work we love and contribute to causes we care about deeply. At Griffin Construction, building goes beyond construction and bleeds into everything we do to build up our communities—on and off the job. If you’re looking for an organization to support, we encourage you to give back to causes and communities that mean the most to you, too.
